Description
Contains 128 blank sheets for note taking. Bound in full reversed goat leather. The top of the hood is finished with an Irish hawthorn knob.
The girdle book could be attached to a belt or in larger cases a horse saddle and would contain a prayer book for travelling pilgrims or holding accounts of a landlord’s rent collector on horseback.
When the book was needed it was swung up and opened: the books hangs upside sown and the leather ‘hood’ is actually at the bottom end of the book.
