General guidelines on handling

On these pages you will find handling advice of archival material, maps, prints and books after some general advice below.

DO

• Always ensure that your hands are clean. Most of the dirt on book covers is accumulated grime from oily fingerprints
• When carrying items from one place to another ensure that the proposed route is clear of obstacles. Consider the size to doorways, stairs, lifts and corridors.

DO NOT

• Eat or drink while handling materials.
