The conservation of a 16th century book.

This post-incunabula shows the lifelong wear and tear of being handled and read.

The endcaps are missing and joints are torn. The spine, leather and sewing supports are weak overall.

Note that this is a Protestant publication whereby obsolete Catholic parchment manuscripts are used as endpaper pastedowns.

The next photos will show you the treatment process.
